Hoover Monument

This monument marks the spot where the grandstand was located for the dedication
of the park in 1930. President Herbert Hoover was the featured speaker for the ceremony.

The inscription on the monument reads:

ON THIS SITE
PRESIDENT HOOVER
ADDRESSED AN AUDIENCE OF 75,000
AT THE CELEBRATION OF THE
SESQUI CENTENNIAL
OF THE BATTLE OF KINGS MOUNTAIN
OCT. 7, 1930
