This monument was placed in 1939 to honor Frederick Hambright who was wounded near this spot during the battle of Kings Mountain.
The inscription on the monument reads:
THIS TABLET MARKS THE SPOT WHERE COL FREDERICK HAMBRIGHT WAS WOUNDED
PLACED BY COL FREDERICK HAMBRIGHT CHAPTER DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
